Fire Curtain for Theaters and Auditoriums

There are several reports of fires that destroy theaters and concert halls. One of the best known cases in Portugal was the fire that happened in Oporto, in 1888, at the Baquet Theater, with at least 120 fatalities.

One of the issues that was debated after the tragedy was the responsibility for inspection and security conditions in these spaces, which normally host a significant number of people.

Fires in Theaters and Auditoriums are one of the most significant risks in urban areas, whether in Portugal or in the world, and their protection and safety must be ensured.

In Portugal, the Decree-Law no. 220/2008, (November 12nd) approved the legal regime for Fire Safety in Buildings, and which determines in its article 15º, that the general technical provisions be regulated by decree of the member of the Government responsible for civil protection and specific to Fire Safety in Buildings.

It is therefore very important to know and invest in safety equipment and systems that can support the prevention and safety of people and goods.

To support those responsible for the safety of these spaces, we developed FLAMA, the first fire-cutting curtain to be manufactured in Portugal and which has characteristics and functionalities that support fire prevention.

More protected theaters and auditoriums with FLAMA fire-cutting curtain

FLAMA is a rolling curtain built in galvanized steel profiles, which in case of fire, prevents the passage of flames, controlling smoke and gases, with the possibility of interconnecting to the fire alarm system.

Rigorously tested, it passed the following CE tests with flying colours.

E – Prevents the passage of flames and hot gases without water
EW – Prevents the passage of flames, hot gases and transmission of thermal radiation without water
EI – Prevents the passage of flames, hot gases and temperature transmission with water

Activated by the fire alarm of the place, the curtains only close when necessary, being hidden the rest of the time and making them practically invisible.
