Did you know that many of the problems in swing motors result from the installation dimensions not being respected?
Unfortunately, this is still a recurrent problem in the installation of swing motors, causing serious damage to the engine mechanics. Therefore, it is extremely important that you respect the dimensions mentioned in the product manuals.
If you want to know more, watch this online training where we share all our recommendations:
What are installation dimensions?
Installation dimensions are important for the proper functioning of the gate, both when opening and closing. This is an essential process in the installation of motors, if the recommended measures are not respected, the motor can have short-term problems.
How does the problem with installation dimensions originate?
With very low dimensions (below the dimensions mentioned in the manual), the motor will exert a force parallel to the gate and not in the opening or closing direction, thus generating excessive pressure on the automation and on the gate.
The main symptom of this problem is when the gate starts to close with bumps, rather than a smooth and continuous movement in terms of speed. As a result, mechanical parts will exhibit abnormal wear due to overexertion, causing short-term problems.
What shouldn’t you do?
The motor must not be installed parallel to the gate. The motor will make parallel force instead of force in the open/close direction. This will lead to abnormal mechanical wear, causing short-term problems.
The swing motors form a triangle between the fixing points of the brackets and hinges. The angle between the motor centerline and the gate cannot be less than 5°.

The angle is mainly defined by the rear axis, through the x and y dimensions, measured between the hinge axis and the motor rotation axis. It is important to respect the values of these dimensions so that the motor can operate as desired.

Select the dimensions you want: Use dimensions suitable for the opening you want.
*Compare your installation with the tables in the manual to ensure you respect their values.
Example: If you want an opening of 96º, you must choose a combination of dimensions that allow an opening equal to or greater than 96º. As you can see in the example below.

How to choose the dimensions combination
The combination of dimensions must be chosen taking into account the pillar and supports of the product, to avoid extra work.
But if the original support is not able to respect the chosen combination of dimensions, it must be modified (cut or increase).
*Remember that the dimensions of the pillars can also interfere in the choice of the motor model. That’s why we have engines with different courses.

Impact of dimensions on opening speed
The use of installation dimensions that allow for a greater opening than desired, results in a faster opening/closing course.
Front Support Installation: SupportDistance and Height
The distance between the two supports must be almost the entirety of the motor with outstretched arm. The two motor supports must be installed with a gap between them. This will make the motor lean, and the draining process will be easier. This unevenness must be between 10 to 20mm.

Importance of MEASURE W
Installation dimensions are important so that the motor has the necessary angle to exert force on the gate without effort. A well-installed engine ensures greater longevity to motor mechanics.
In order to facilitate the installation of our automations, we have in our product manuals all the recommended measures values, so that the motor can run smoothly.

If there is a surplus of course, it is important that the surplus is when it is closed and not when it is open.
